First pilot proficiency checks, performed last winter were total success for both, candidates and SEA examiners.

Unfortunatelly, voluntary pilot enrollment for check did not show the expected results. Actually, response was quite dissapointing despite the fact that checks aim for completely new VA experience which reflects one of the core principles of the real aviation world.

SEA Management and SEA TD are currently reviewing how to introduce the checks on the system-wide basis and assure that our crews realise the benefit behind this programme.

Proficiency checks consist of both,  written online exam and check flight performed in LDZO FIR in accordance to the specific instructions and programme designed by the SEA TD.

"While initial response from pilots is far from expected, we do not have any alternative path to follow - we want this programme to run and we want our pilots to pass these checks. Checks are not pass/fail indicator, they are learning experience and sign that we care that our pilots are doing good job wherever they fly" - said SEA CEO Tom Zorman.
